About Us

In the true Spirit of Don Bosco - At the Frontline in the Education of Marginalized Youth

To assist youth especially the marginalized, in the development of their own personality, by awakening their innate human and spiritual qualities for a wholesome life, which consequently will motivate them to develop their skills, to be a means for a decent livelihood.

Don Bosco Vocational Training Institute is one of the activities of the Quepem Salesian Society. The Quepem Salesian Society is registered in Goa, under the Societies Registration Act of 1860, and bears registration no. No. 77/Goa/85 dated 16/12/1985. The institute was established in 2004, with the purpose of offering less fortunate youth, an opportunity to obtain professional training in employment related skills. Till the year 2012, only 3 courses were conducted and an average of 75 trainees per year were educated. From 2012 the number of students rose to an average of 110 to 125 each year. The Institute conducted the courses, relying entirely on the financial support from the regional Don Bosco Society, which is conducting several skill development programs for the marginalized. Of these 97% are gainfully employed or self-employed. In the year 2016 Don Bosco VTI obtained affiliation from the Human Resource Development Foundation (HRDF), Govt. of Goa for 6 skill development courses. In 2017, two more courses received approval for affiliation by HRDF.

The Don Bosco Society was founded in 1873, at Turin in Italy by John Bosco, a priest who was sensitive to the plight of youth due to the ill-effects of the industrial revolution. His passion to care for unemployed migrant youth who thronged the cities looking for employment, and were being exploited, led John Bosco to form a society which is today popularly known as the Don Bosco Society. It consists of over 13,000 members spread throughout the world, caring for the holistic needs of youth, especially the marginalized.

To give impetus to the dream of our founder Don Bosco, the management of Don Bosco Vocational Training Institute, Quepem, is committed to the holistic development of persons, and especially of youth, irrespective of caste or creed. Consequently, our entire educational system has marginalised youth as its focus, with the vision to help them to flower into honest citizens and good persons by developing their innate God given skills.
